SINGAPORE

Flight over from Heathrow was good. Had a free seat next to me, the in flight movie was Goblet of Fire (I was hoping for either that or King Kong so was well chuffed), and I slept for 6-7 hours! Haven't slept that much since the last time I went to Oz!
Arrived in Singapore around 6pm, met up with Haywood and Charlie and dragged them to the Hard Rock Cafe. Of course they had a Salsa night on instead of playing rock music, so it should been called the Mild Salsa Cafe.

On Friday, first whole day, went to Sentosa Resort. This is a little island off Singapore that you get to by cable car. Spend the day chillin on the beach, swimming in the sea and playing mini golf. That evening played pool and drank beer at Haywood and Charlie's youth hostel because it was dead cheap there.
The next day H & C wanted to do a water skiing thing that I wasn't too fussed about, so I decided to spend the day on my own. It felt a lot more adventurous exploring the city on my own, felt like you were really travelling. Mind you, Singapore is basically the lazy man's part of Asia, they all speak English and there's plenty of McDs and KFCs to go round. I spent most of the day shopping. Bought my Ipod speakers from Sim Lim Square (thank you Gemma!). They were priced $139 but I haggled them down to $125 - oh yes!!! (Works out at roughly 45quid, 15 cheaper than the UK).

Met up with H&C that evening, turns out they spent the day lying in bed and lazying around instead of water skiing. Such a shame I missed out. We drank beer and played pool again with 3 other guys in the youth hostel. It turned out that 5 out of the 6 of us went to Liverpool uni, all at different times! Small world eh!?
On Sunday, our flight wasn't til 8:45pm, so had a day to kill with all our stuff packed up. During the afternoon, H & C wanted to watch a film. The only thing on was Underworld 2, which I was gonna waste my time and money seeing, so went and explored more of the city whilst those 2 watched it. Found some really nice areas and buildings, everything's a lot quieter once you get off the main street(s). I took some great photos, including one of a HUGE spider. Walked around a square that had a few bars, shops and cafes. Went passed one bar, and a Bruce Springsteen song was playing; went passed it again 2 minutes later and a Bryan Adams song was playing. Was nearly tempted to buy a drink in there, but then I told myself to get a life.

Flew out that evening to Cairns, Singapore airport, like everyone says, is gorgeous. Shame we didn't have time to use the FREE swimming pool and spa.
