Bryan Adams (1980)
Review by Karl Watson |

From a major fan's perspective, it certainly provides an interesting listen to see how it all began. BA once described this album as “a bunch of glorified demos”. The main problem is it can't seem to make up its mind whether it wants to be a rock album or a pop album. So whilst there are some decent rock songs such as “Hidin' From Love”, “Remember”, plus a great ballad, “Give Me Your Love”; there's also some real poppy songs that you wouldn't expect from BA, such as “Don't Ya Say It” and “State Of Mind”. Considering BA wanted to get rid of the disco image from his first single, (the legendary) “Let Me Take You Dancing”, it doesn't make sense having these pop songs on the album.
