Reckless (1984)
Review by Karl Watson

This is BA at his very, very best. Every song is a classic. Every song (bar one) has remained in the set list since its release, and they are always the highlights of the show. Every song features an amazing guitar riff, some of which I'd dare say could go down as some the greatest guitar riffs of all time. All of the songs work so well live. There are not many songs that can work in almost any venue, but these work in the smallest bar to the largest stadium.

The album features just one ballad, but what a ballad it is! I think “Heaven” is one of the few songs that I equally love every different live version of. “It's Only Love” has changed over the years, from the initial rip-roaring duet; to BA replacing Tina Turner with his uncanny impression; to being a showcase for Keith Scott's unbelievable guitar playing. “Run To You” is the perfect radio rock song. “Summer Of ‘69” is obviously the ultimate crowd pleaser, but I'd say “Kids Wanna Rock” beats it as the ultimate BA live song.

And finally - “Ain't Gonna Cry” – Best. Ending. To. An. Album. Ever. It's what rock n roll's all about!

Key Tracks:
Summer Of '69
Kids Wanna Rock
