Tokyo Dome (2009)
Review by Karl Watson |

Ok so let's look at the concert itself first. It's an interesting performance considering the band weren't touring at the time so they don't sound as tight as usual. The crowd are completely dead. BA tries his hardest to get them going, but eventually gives up in "Summer Of '69" and just laughs it off.
This was the New Years Eve concert and BA was supporting Huey Lewis And The News, so whilst its always nice to hear rarities, for an 11 song set you can't complain really at the song choice. The highlight being "Summer Of '69" where we get a glimpse of the song developing into the monster extended version that was played in the '90s.
Now onto the DVD as a package. The artwork is in the style of the 18 Til I Die era, the picture on the front cover is even from Wembley '96. Plus the writing on the spine is upside down and they miss out Tommy Mandel when listing the band members.
This could be excused when it was a bootleg DVD because, hey, what do they care? But once BA got hold of the rights and released it to the fanclub did they bother to redesign the artwork? Nope.
They didn't even do a new transfer of the footage, so the quality is piss poor for a DVD. It looks like they got an old VHS recording of the show and captured it on their PC. So much like the 11 and Waking Up The World DVD, we have another release that reeks of laziness.
However, since this artwork isn't official, it does mean that the tracklist is written out correctly for once. So a 3 star concert with a 1 star DVD package, equals 2 stars. Must. Try. Harder. Key Tracks:
