Live At Slane Castle (2001)
Review by Steven Stanley |

Bryan performing infront of 70,000 headlining Ireland's
biggest annual festival has to be the best video release of a full
show we've had. The camera work is second to none as we are treated
to huge crowd pans and not just the standard video of Bryan and
the band.
'Back To You' kicks off the show in style and shows
you why it was such a great show opener. The difference between
the version on the 'Unplugged' DVD and this is startling... this
is just amazing. During the middle of the song Bryan gets 70,000
people to bounce... likewise during '69 which has a huge feeling
of grandeur about it.
Song of the summer at this time was the #1 hit 'Don't
Give Up'. I saw Bryan do this at a special show in Sheffield and
it was amazing... here it's even better. Although Bryan doesn't
know when to come in during the song, I think it makes the intro
even better... I love 'Don't Give Up' and it's a real treat to have
it on a live concert film.
Other highlights include Mel C's appearence on 'When
You're Gone', Davy Spillane on 'Heaven', the pyro's (yes.... PYROS)
during 'The Only Thing' and Tina Shaws filthy banners.
3 bonus tracks from the same concert are included
in the extras... why they weren't put in the concert I've no idea,
that could have cost it 5 stars. Some nice extras for the rest of
the disc, show rehearsals, interviews, going on stage video, photo
gallery and a 360 degree view of certain songs. Certainly the best
DVD he's released so far, just pipping 'Live In Lisbon' at the post.
Recommended.
