So Far So Good (And More)
(1994)
Review by Steven Stanley |

Over the years I've played this to DEATH. An amazing
collection of rare videos and amazing live songs. Before I was allowed
to go to shows, this was my only form of seeing Bryan live and god
how good it is.
The 3 songs blended back to back of 'Run To You',
'C'mon Everybody' and '69' is the BEST 15 minutes of footage of
Bryan you will ever see unless a full show from the 90's is ever
released. All the footage from these 3 songs is taken from some
of the huge UK Stadium venues Bryan was playing in 1992. 'Run To
You' starts at Wembley Stadium with 70,000 people all clapping in
sync to the drumbeat before Bryan emerges into the spotlight to
play the guitar intro. As the progresses it's drawn to a close at
Ipswich Town's Portman Road stadium before we see him running through
the tunnels to the b-stage at Cardiff Arm's Park for a rousing rendition
of 'C'mon Everybody' (which is all shot in Cardiff). From there we see
him jump off the b-stage at the International Stadium in Gateshead,
through the corridors and around the rear of the huge stage to sing
'Summer Of '69' infront of the Gateshead thousands. '69' comes to
a mindblowing end at London's Wembley Stadium. Out of all the official
releases of CD's, singles, videos, DVD's... this is the BEST moment
out of any of them. These 3 songs are better than even the entire
Slane gig... just get this video for these alone. It's the only
official recording we have of anything like this, and until the
day comes out when we have a full 90's UK stadium show released...
this is as good as it's gonna get people. Also checkout '69 on the
'Waking Up The World' DVD... it uses a lot of the same footage but
also adds new elements from the Canadian shows to give it maybe
a better all-round feel.
As for the rest of the video it doesn't disappoint
either. Full of rarities like the 'Diana' video and live performances.
'When The Night Comes' from Vancouver is particularly brilliant,
as is the clever montage of 'Straight From The Heart' from Wembley
'92. The great version of 'Into The Fire' from Tokyo '88 is also
on here plus live versions of 'Can't Stop' and 'Everything I Do'
from Canada that featured on the 'Waking Up The World' documentary.
Highly recommended and the only 5 star outing for
a video release I can see foresee for a long time.
