The Best Of Me (1999)
Review by Steven Stanley

A shocker of a 'best of' album released to cash in on fans at Christmas. Yes it was the end of the millenium and everybody else was doing it... but I really don't know why he released this... maybe to help get out of his record contract I've no idea. One thing is for sure is it wasn't really warranted and some absolute gems are left off to accomodate for tracks like 'Inside Out' - pull the other one!

I only bought this for the extra disc it came with at the time...'Live From South Africa', which was a fantastically energetic trio show from Johannesburg '99. 'The Best Of Me' was a half decent song but I always kind of cringed when I thought about it in context with this album... "when you want it, when you need it, you'll always get the best of me", I know it's not but it's almost like a shameless plug to buy the album and kind of wierd.

Best song by far for me is the then hidden track 'Don't Give Up', trance-tastic! The song of summer 2000 without doubt and a fantastic surprise on the CD. Don't waste you money on this though, buy 'Anthology' instead.
