Launched just before the album launch 'The Only Thing' was an instant hit around the world making people stand up and take notice of Bryan again. He had re-invented his look and also his sound to a certain degree. For the first time in 4 years he had put a single out that 'rocked'. It went straight into the UK top 10 and was used heavily in the media around the world.

'The Only Thing' was written and recorded in the southern French village of Ramatuelle in spring '96. As BA says it's just a tongue in cheek way of looking at the fashion industry. The song has been used on catwalks with BA performing by Versace and Calvin Klein.

The single was available with a variety of b-sides ranging from old material to new which varied from country to country. Europe got an extra CD2 with older material to remind fans of the hits and to get bums on seats in stadiums across the continent.
