Jealousy
Never released as a proper single, this was just a promo album sample for Japan. Co-written with Lindsay Mitchell from the band Prism, this song originally featured on their 1979 album Armageddon. Read the story of how the song was written below.

Excerpt from Sorelle Saidman's 1993 book "Bryan Adams: Everything He Does":

'"We had ten songs for the Armageddon record already shipped to Toronto," recalled Lindsay Mitchell. "They had the pressing plant booked for the next day - the album was going to be shipped platinum, we had that many pre-orders - and they phoned us late one day and said, 'We don't like this tune. We need another tune real fast. We've got the pressing plant booked for tomorrow evening. We have to have the tape of the song in Toronto by dinnertime tomorrow.'

"We were figuring out what to do, and I said to Bruce Fairbarn, 'Well, jeez, I got this tune, 'Jealousy'. I hummed it to him over the phone. 'It's great,' he said, 'but it needs something.' I said, 'I'll phone Bryan.'

"I called him late, about ten or eleven o'clock at night, and I said, 'Bryan, I've got this song and it's about two-thirds wirtten. I've got a chorus and a verse, but it needs something. But we have to have it finished by noon, because we've got to get it on a plane by dinner.'"

Adams was game for the challenge. Mitchell was up at 8:30am dropping off a cassette. "I need it finished in two hours," announced Mitchell. "I'm going for breakfast. I'll pick it up at ten-thirty."

"I came back about two hours later, and he had added a chord and he just sort of added this little twist in the verse, you know, turned it around a little bit, just made it two or three bars longer, and written an extra verse of lyric.

"We went into the studio at noon, we tracked it, set and recorded it, and by God, it was on a plane that evening and they went in the pressing plant the next day...That was the only song Bryan and I ever wrote [together]. We tried to do it again, but we couldn't recapture that panic."
