28/01/82 -
LOST HORIZON CLUB, SYRACUSE, NY
Summary by Bryan King:
Still in the midst of promoting You Want It You Got It (his first
US release), this show in upstate New York is a classic old-time
BA show in the area of America where he broke as an artist.
This gig took place at the funky Lost Horizon club,
which was a hot spot for students of Syracuse University during
the 1970s and 80s. At this time (BA was only 22), Bryan had already
made a name for himself with a solid record and plenty of co-songwriting
credits for Bachman Turner Overdrive, Loverboy, and Kiss. BA had
developed into a seasoned pop hit writer, but he was just at the
beginning of his performing career, so parts of this show were a
bit shaky.
Still, it must have been great to hear BA onstage
with so much obvious enthusiasm and a keen desire to carve out his
own identity and win over fans anywhere he can go.
This show also featured BA's original live drummer
Jim Wesley behind the kit. In 1983, full-time duty behind the kit
went to Frankie LaRocca and then Pat Stewart played from 1984 to
1986 during the Reckless tour before Mickey Curry took over full-time
duties for the Into the Fire tour in 1987.
