08/10/92 - PACIFIC AMPHITHEATRE, COSTA MESA, LOS ANGELES

Summary by Bryan King:
After consistently playing in front of their largest audiences in European stadiums and Canadian festivals during the summer of '92, the band took a three week break in September to recharge for more US dates in the fall of '92. Most venues for the October-December dates hold between 5,000 - 10,000 fans and are either arenas and some amphitheatres. This outdoor venue is known as the Pacific Amphitheatre holds about 8500, although it is not sold out for BA. It is part of the Orange County Fairgrounds.
Located about 40 miles south of Los Angeles in the very ritzy area of Orange County ("the O.C. to you TV fans out there), BA and band perform their fourth show of the fall tour at the Costa Mesa

Now that the Waking Up the Neighbours album is over a year old, this tour does not have the media attention that the Spring '92 dates did in larger cities and venues. The band is cooking on all cylinders after a solid year of touring under their belts.

BA comments how great the band is to tour with and says that they were able to play in Instanbul, Turkey recently and that others should get their passports ready to visit Turkey.

Although the Neighbours CD has been out for 13 months by this time, the band is still clearly promoting the project as seven of the first nine songs played are from the album; including the current single: Do I Have to Say the Words?

This is an above-average 22 song set featuring some rarities and audibles called during the show. Most notably, the under-played Is Your Mama Gonna Miss Ya which is making its first performance on US soil as it was not played in the Spring '92 American tour.

Lonely Nights is another rare treat midway through the show.

To close the main set, BA usually played Run to You and then There Will Never Be Another Tonight. However, on this night, he calls for Heat of the Night with an almost ad-libbed arrangement, followed by Somebody before winding up the main set as usual with There Will Never Be...

Although the BStage is used at most US shows during the fall '92 tour, this venue does not feature one. As a result, One Night Love Affair is played for one of the final times in the encores (it was originally to be played in the It's Only Love slot).

BA performs Costa Mesa Blues as a three minute pre-lude to She's Only Happy... instead of a song on its own. It's the beginning stages of the blues number he plays in most towns for the next few years.
