JOHANNESBURG Review by Johannesburg Press: Bryan
Adams wows Joburg Thousands of people were entertained
by Canadian superstar Bryan Adams, who performed his "Summer of 2002"
New Years Eve in Johannesburg on Tuesday night. Adams,
who is on his third visit to the country, performed at the Northgate Dome. Fans
were treated to a repertoire that included the prom ballads "Everything I
Do I Do It For You" and "Have You Ever Really Loved A Women?" and
his hits "Cuts Like A Knife", "Thought I'd Died And Gone To Heaven",
"Please Forgive Me" and "Run To You". South
African band Mean Mr Mustard got the audience to their feet during the curtain-raiser.
During a 20-year singing career, Adams achieved number
one status globally with many of his songs, and he recorded with other music legends,
including Tina Turner, Barbara Streisand, Rod Stewart and Sting. His
"Best of Me" album has been given new life with the addition of a special
bonus disc of exclusively "live" tracks, with five songs recorded in
South Africa during the last Bryan Adams Tour in 1999 and three tracks from his
recent Slane Castle performance. Adams is due to
perform at Kirstenbosch Gardens in Cape Town on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. |
