05/04/04 - BIG BOX, KEMPTEN

Review by Steven Stanley:
We all got up the day after Zurich and got the train to Kempten...by the time we were up and walking to get the train the other English baddies from the night before we nearly home. I was gutted nobody else was doing it as we all got on so well and it wasn't really the same without them but we still had a good time. The train to Kempten wasn't too bad and we saw some beautiful scenery of Switzerland on the way. On the way into the town we saw the streets littered with BA posters but had trouble nicking them because they were all plastered onto boards! Upon arrival we got the LAST free hotel room in the whole town! How lucky were we! After a hectic day the day before we decided to take this show easy. We didn't bother queuing and even went for a meal in a restaurant when the doors had opened. However when we did bother to go in we still got front row on Keith's side, but this time more to the side. We weren't complaining though! Tonight there was no support and BA came onstage at least 30 minutes earlier than the night before.

He kicked off with 'There Will Never Be Another Tonight' and then played 'House Arrest' which wasn't played at any other show that we went to. BA also did an amazing version of 'It's Only Love' doing a full on Tina Turner impression! After 'I'm Ready' BA and Keith started to play 'Lonely Nights' with BA on acoustic and Keith on Spanish guitar. It was amazing and it was worth going to Kempten just to hear them play that! During 'Fits Ya Good' each band member had a solo during the song with Norm giving it some bass and Gary giving us a tinkle of the keyboard. Not to mention Keith, Mickey and Bryan...they did that throughout the rest of the tour and it's really good to see them do it!

Keith looked knackered near the end of the show and he bent down to a roadie during 'Run To You' to get a cigarette of him. He then proceeded to thrash his guitar onstage like Slash while smoking his cig....was really cool! Also during the show somebody threw up a little Canadian flag which BA put in the top of his Strat while playing the song!

Of course we enjoyed the rest of the show....at the end though when BA was starting 'Depend On Me' we walked to the back of the arena to watch so that as soon as he walked offstage we could run around to catch him leaving. As it turned out we ran the long way around instead of the short way and missed him. We could still see all the other band members in a room though. None of them stopped when they came out but me and Adrian ran afetr Keith's car because it got stuck in traffic at the top of the road. Keith was signing Adrian's ticket when the driver all of a sudden drove off....with Adrian's ticket in Keith's hand! Keith said 'see ya tommorrow!' and shortly after we went back to the hotel!
