12/09/05 - CANARY ISLANDS
STADIUM, LAS PALMAS, GRAN CANARIA BA
plays for the first time on the Canary Islands at the 'Canary Islands Stadium'
on Gran Canaria. 'All I Want Is You' is added to the set for the first time since
the '18' summer tour of '96. The show is closed with Bryan singing and Keith on
Spanish guitar singing 'Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman?' ********** Review

First of all, i have never written a review before and im afraid
of not doing it well, so please, forgive me (and my english) :)) Well,
me and my sister arrived from La Palma to Las Palmas on saturday, went to leave
our things at the place where we were staying at and then went out to see the
city and etc. We saw lot of posters of Bryan and started to believe the gig was
for real. Well, me anyway, mi sister was more interested in other guys, i mean
things *sigh*. On sunday we went to met Elena (a friend
of mine whos also a baddie and lives in Tenerife) who also went to Las Palmas
to see Bryan & co. Once we met with her, we went together to get our tickets
but due to some technical problems they couldnt print them, so we couldnt get
them and we got a bit worried cuz the gig would be the next day and we still hadnt
the tickets.
But we decided to take it easy, so Elena went to see some friends
of her and my sista and i spent the rest of the morning-afternoon on the beach
(where we got 'nicely' sun burnt lol) And the D day
came. We got up really early and went to look for the tickets first thing in the
morning cuz we wanted to go queueing as soon as possible. It took us a while but
we finally managed to get them and once we had them we went to eat something cuz
we had a loooooooooong day ahead and hadnt even had breakfast yet.
Funny enough,
the comercial center we were at was quite close to the venue where the gig would
be held but since we didnt know the place we thought about taking a taxi to get
there, and whilst we were waiting for a taxi my friend Elena came out of the blue
and we had a laugh cuz she said she had been watching us and we looked (a bit)
lost, then she told us that the stadium was only two streets away from there and
so we went walking and arrived in a few mins.
When we got there around 15 pm
there were already 16 or 17 people waiting! They were giving people numbers so
if you had to go to eat something or whatever you wouldnt lost your place in the
queue, and i was the 18 (18 til die!). I only knew Elena, but now i think i also
'knew' some of the others cuz i have heard talking about them in here and etc,
i think one of them was named cuki, she was very nice (and tv interviewed her,
mum taped the news for me and i saw her talking about bryan and saying she has
been to many places to see him and etc), and there were also other girls from
zaragoza or something like that and some others from santander and other countries,
germany, france, sweeden, canada, etc, etc (sorry cant remember their names but
they were all very nice and funny. what a pity that i didnt ask them for their
email adresses or something to get in touch) Anyway,
i got tired of standing up and went to sit down in the stairs that were close
to the door which we were supposed to enter through.
I guess i was thinking
some shit when around 18 pm people noticed some guitar sounds coming from inside
but we thought it probably were the sound techs proving the instruments or something
like that.
Later on, we did hear again more guitar playing but people didnt
pay attention, but i told a friend that the one playing was bryan cuz i got a
feeling inside that this time he was there cuz of the way that guitar was being
played and....suddenly i realized i was listening ALL I WANT IS YOU, and a few
seconds later... i heard Bryans voice. And no, it wasnt a CD lol. The minute all
heard bryans voice, they went crazy and tried to see if they could something but
it was impossible.
He did like 4 or 5 times ALL I WANT IS YOU and then a couple
of times OPEN ROAD and went to sit down in the stairs again and texted veronica
to let her know i was hearing him and she texted me back saying she was going
to post in the webboard about it.
Well, like 1 or 2 hours after that the tv,
radio and some other media came there and went interviewing people and taking
pics, etc (Elena and her banner appeared in the newspaper!:) and suddenly i looked
around and realized that there were already many people waiting.
As time went
by, more and more people came and i felt relieved cuz i had started to think that
people wasnt going to come ..
I wasnt nervous at all, all the opposite, i
was quite calmed. Though i got a bit >:( cuz many people who got there late
went in before some of the ones who had been queueing all day, but it wasnt really
peoples fault but N.Ps (Nacional Police) fault! They werent doing right their
work and so it was a bit chaotic when around 21 pm they opened the doors and let
us in cuz everybody wanted to come in at the same time and there were a few moments
of panic specially cuz there were some children there too who got hurt, nothing
important though but they got a bit frightened lol.. Since there was so many people
running inside and then down the stairs to get to where the stage was, in the
middle of the mess i lost Elena and the other ones and didnt see them again until
the end of the show. My sister too dissappeared for a few moments but she was
trying to get a good spot and we end up under Keiths mic, next to the loudspeakers
and under one of the big screens (you see, i trained her well i guess lol) 
When
we got there whilst we were waiting for the gig to begin we looked back and it
amazed us to see all the people who were still coming in (they say there were
like 12.000 people there), and also it surprised us when we looked at the stairs
and realized we didnt really remind running down them since we were running so
fast that we didnt even see a thing lol Oh, it seemed
quite funny that next to me there was a guy who was studying! YES.
It seems
weird but this guy was reading some papers and when i looked at them i reckonized
the texts he was reading cuz i had to read them too for school.
Now, isnt that
weird?! ...i mean, who goes to a gig with the school notes?! Anyway,
under one of the big screens there were 2 guys doing some graffiti or whatever
you say that, and viri and i were looking at it (and at them lol) and thinking
what the hell were they painting...
Around 22 pm they finished the graffiti
and we could read it said: ROOM SERVICE and then we saw the sound techs on the
stage checking that everything was ok i suppose (my sister asked me if bryan had
a brother cuz she says there was a guy who looked like him but i didnt see him..agrr
lol) and in a few mins later a light iluminated the graffiti and Bryan and the
guys came on stage and started with ROOM SERVICE....oh my.. I
only remember that i wasnt really sure if i was really there and that i was crying
cuz he was just as i had always thought he would be. I dont know how to explain
it but it didnt feel as if it was the first time i was there, and thats why i
wanted to thank you to all of you who always share your experiences and pics and
reviews with the rest of us, cuz i realized right then thats something very sweet
and precious. I dont know really in which moment i went crying, but i realized
i was crying when i thought: there he is. and then keith and the others. Still
i havent the pics and i either havent had the time to scann the articles (but
im translating them), but will try and post everything as soon as possible. I
know someone who has the setlist written down with all the songs in the correct
order and etc, so will post it when i get it.
But if my mind serves me correctly
he played all these songs: "room service", "open road", "18
til i die", "cant stop this thing we started", "summer of
69", "heaven", "lets make a night to remember", "run
to you", "its only love", "kids wanna rock", "everything
i do, i do it for you", "back to you", "house arrest",
"cuts like a knife", "when you are gone", "all i want
is you", "somebody", "the only thing that looks good on me
is you", "im ready" and then they were gone but came back again
to do "cloud number nine" and "the best of me" and then they
said bye bye and were gone but the crowd wanted more and so bryan came back with
keith to do: "have you ever really loved a woman". I
have so many images, sounds and moments in my head that still i havent been able
to organize my ideas properly(and it will take me a while lol), so since i couldnt
write it all in order, i will say what i remember of every song and etc. Oh,
he was wearing a black t-shirt and jeans (sorry noreen, no white tshirt girl lol)
and was talkative, even said a few things in spanish, hola las palmas, señores
y señoritas, muchas gracias and some other things which i cant remember
now. At some point people went chanting -pio pio-
and he seemed a bit confused or something, but then, he was smiling and everything
so...who knows, maybe he knows what it was going on lol
That pio pio thing
is like one of those chants that they sing at football matches you know, they
go chanting that when they are happy or having fun or whatever. well,
ROOM SERVICE: it was the first song played and it was great! Cant remember much
more cuz i spent the whole time looking at bryan and thinking that yes, hes human,
and walks, talks, sings, smiles, jumps, plays guitar ....etc, etc. i had this
impression of being looking at a picture or a video.cuz he was the same, there
was no difference..and.it was quite weird lol but the sweetest thing ever..
OPEN
ROAD: it was great. oh, and when he played his harmonica.. i loved that part!!!!

TIL I DIE: was great too. During some part of the song he came to where keith
was most of the show, show us his tongue and did all those things he does *sigh*
and he even looked at the area where i was..with those blue eyes....
CANT STOP
THIS THING WE STARTED: another one of my favs, i loved hearing it live!
SUMMER
OF 69: thats my fav! everybody loves it and we all knew the lyrics.. (at that
point my sister told me that she wanted to see bryan again and that she was going
to steal me my cds and i told her NO WAY and she had to admit that she likes bryan
cuz she couldnt deny it anymore lol )
HEAVEN: it was pretty sweeeeeet too :)
and bryan played a bit the harmonica, just a few seconds.
LETS MAKE A NIGHT
TO REMEMBER: i guess it was when he was about to sing this one that he said the
gig was being great and that he was sorry he hadnt come around before (i always
told you bryan!) and he said something like we would make it up for the time lost
or that we would make it up tonight or that we had to make it up and make a night
to remember or sthg like that and it was another great song which everybody loved
it ...
RUN TO YOU: i loved hearing this song live cuz i like it alot and cuz
from sometime to this part it has a special meaning to me. the lyrics are so cool
and true!
ITS ONLY LOVE: keiths guitar playing was soooooooooooooooooo great!
KIDS WANNA ROCK: another one of my favs!
EVERYTHING I DO: he asked people
to hold up their mobile phones and my sister, who doesnt speak or understand english
asked me what had he said and so i told her.
BACK TO YOU: i loved hearing
it live and more than ever i had the strong impression of being listening my own
thoughts on his voice. that song means alot to me and it was really nice listening
to it live, really. CUTS LIKE A KNIFE: it was great too! he was so funny during
the part of the nananana, the crowd went singing and he told us to do it louder,
and we did, but he gave us a sign like saying we werent doing it loud enough,
so we did it louder and he again did the same sign, etc, etc, etc. until he gave
us a sign like saying it was ok and then he went on singing....
WHEN YOURE
GONE: it was quite sweet and funny too. he chose a girl named Elena from Las Palmas
who was an arquitect and had gone with his boyfriend and some friends or something.
Bryan asked her her name, then also asked her where she came from and if she worked
or studied, etc. Then asked her if she knew the lyrics and she said + or - i think,
then he told someone to give him the lyrics and when she got them he took them
of her hands and said it was for him and went looking at them as if he needed
to do so...(though sometimes he mess around the lyrics, but i guess is part of
his charm..lol) then they went singing and she couldnt sing very well but she
did her best, and so bryan and her had a good time. at first she was a bit shy,
it seemed so, but then she went dancing and everything and the whole thing was
really funny. when they ended the song bryan hugged her and asked her if she had
gone with some friends, you know, the t-shirts thing, and she told him she had
gone with her boyfriend and some friends and he said something like she had 2
boyfriends or i dont know cuz i got busy trying to make a phone call but my cell
wouldnt feel like working...technologies lol
ALL I WANT IS YOU: it was great
too..cant remember much more, i was too busy looking at the guys and listening
and singing...
SOMEBODY: i have always loved this song and was great to hear
it live! :))
THE ONLY THING THAT LOOKS GOOD ON ME IS YOU: loved it too!!!!
i didnt think he was to play it, dont know why but i had that feeling.
the
song was great and i focused my attention on norm who seems to be getting more
integrated or dont know how to say it, it seems to me that he now looks like hes
really enjoying it more than before..
and im not sure but maybe it was then
when he introduced the band members..
IM READY: such a sweet song too... another
one of my favs..
CLOUD NUMBER NINE: another great song too. it started to rain
like in the middle of the song and bryan looked up to the skies like thinking
..something.. lol
i couldnt believe it, the only time he comes around and it
goes raining when we had had more than 31º C the week before..agrr lol
but
it didnt last much, i think that when he finished cloud number nine, had already
stopped raining :))
THE BEST OF ME: pretty sweet too. He came down and some
people reached out to touch him and etc. He didnt come to the part where i was,
but im glad my friend Elena almost touched him and has some great pics (that she
still has to sent me lol)
it was very sweet that the guy next to me (the one
who was studying) let a girl who had been all the time in the 3 or 4 row to get
in his place, and she said something like: oh my god, hes coming down? and i was
like..yes, he uses to.. and she went crying, well, she hadnt stopped crying since
he came on stage lol, but she cried even more when i told her that and i guess
she could touch him but right after that he went away again. so close, yet so
far. that girl who was crying told me shes been a
fan like since 12 years or more ago, but she never really got the chance to see
him before and she either did know much about him cuz she had only been able to
get some cds and etc. cuz in spain (both in the mainland and the islands) he isnt
that known cuz here to be known you dont have to work that much or be good at
something but sleep with any celebrity or participate in any reality show (big
brother and etc) anything like that that sells magazines and so on. from that
point of view they have no interest about bryan so, they dont talk about him and
isnt weird that when he comes to barcelona, for example, though many people goes
to the gig, i know about many other people who doesnt find out about the gig in
time until the gig is over and they read something in the newspapers or so.
so,
the gran canaria gig was well promoted cuz everybody knew it was going to happen
since they wouldnt stop talking about it on tv, the radio, etc, etc. HAVE
YOU EVER REALLY LOVED A WOMAN: they had already said bye bye and all that things,
mickey had even thrown his drumsticks to the crowd (a guy we met in the queue
got one of them and was SO happy! :) and i really thought the gig was over, but
people wanted more and bryan came back with keith and said they would do another
song. he went on talking a bit and (if i understood him right lol) said that a
couple of months ago he got a phone call and they asked him about doing a gig
in canary islands and he thought ok, he had never been here before and all that.
and he said that he never thought it would be such a fantastic gig, cuz it really
had been fantastic. and then he said that his way of thanking us was singing a
song he doesnt play very often, cuz he or them felt like doing so, he then was
about to explain why they dont play it often but suddenly stopped talking and
said, "we dont play it very often just cuz we dont do it" or something
like that lol and he said he was going to sing: Have you ever really loved a woman
cuz it was a spanish song, then he said that it wasnt really a spanish song lol,
cuz it was in english but he said it had a spanish heart.... OHHHH....what
a guy! right after that he went singing and i went
crying cuz i didnt know what to expect from the crowd, i mean, to be honest, it
really surprised and moved me positively when they went singing and knew the lyrics
and everything, cuz i thought that maybe bryan would feel dissappointed or something
if they didnt show they were having fun and etc, so it was really nice that the
crowd was that enthusiastic and that there were so many baddies in there (cuz
there were lots of them!) cuz Bryan and the guys seemed to be happy about it and
thats pretty sweet :)) when he finished, he said bye
to Las Palmas, said we had been a fantastic audience (yes, he always says that,
but i hadnt heard it 'live' before lol) and he blown us kisses and more kisses
and then he was gone. then we went looking for elena
and the others, and one of the guys we met at the queue (the one who caught mickeys
drumstick) gave us a lift to the place where we were staying at. and + or - that
was all. in case i remember anything, will let you know. I
would like to thank my sister Viri and Elena for coming with me; also to all of
you who had emailed, called and texted me: Tizzie, Hanna, Terry, Vero, Ivika,
Eli, Charlotte, Dante, Sher, Jacqueline, Mary and many others: thank you so much,
you all know who you are but cant name you all or i would never end writing this!
I thought of each one of you during those two hours and tried my best so you could
hear a bit of the songs too (but my phone mobile got fucked up in the middle of
the show so in the end couldnt call all of you, but i hope those of you who got
the calls enjoyed them).
Anyway, i speacially would like to say G R A C I A
S to Bryan and El (Eliot Kennedy) cuz without your talent, it wouldnt have been
possible! And thank you too Keith, Mickey, Norm, Gary, the sound techs and everyone
involved in making such a great show.
You are the BEST and i love you all!
