19/12/05 - ELTON JOHN'S STAG PARTY, TOO2MUCH CLUB, SOHO, LONDON

Sky News report:
With two stags present, Elton John and David Furnish's pre-wedding bash was bound to be a bit of a corker.

And as far as the celebrity circuit was concerned, it was a night not to be missed.

Turning up - to be treated to champers and sushi by topless waiters wearing black ties and riding boots - were Elton and David's closest friends, such as Liz Hurley and Arun Nayar.

The whole Osbourne clan also rocked up to Too2Much club in London's Soho, as well as musicians in the form of Bryan Adams, Gary Barlow and Kid Rock.

Hollywood was there in the form of Orlando Bloom and his supposed new fiancee, Kate Bosworth.

The telly world was represented by Janet Street-Porter, Trinny and Susannah, Donna Air and Cilla Black - who cheekily said:

"They don't want presents, they want donations for the various Aids charities. But I'm still going to buy them a present... I'm going to get them the tackiest toaster I can find."

Inside, the event was compered by Paul O'Grady, whose tongue was firmly in his cheek when he revealed the order of the night.

"We're going to tie them to a lamppost, cover them with shaving foam - it's an old-fashioned stag do."

As would be expected, Too2Much is overly plush, with decor that includes an auditorium with red leather and banquette seating, a bar decorated with Swarovski crystals, chairs dipped in rubber and sculptured glass walls.

Sir Elt and David will get 'married' at Windsor's Guildhall in Berkshire on Wednesday 21st December - and fret not, we'll bring you all the details.

ELTON John gushed thanks for the "fantastic" stars at his cabaret hen night - then sensationally branded Madonna a "miserable cow" for not turning up to sing.

The high camp bash glittered with A-listers happy to wish Elton and boyfriend David Furnish best wishes before today's "wedding".

But after praising the cabaret as "one of the greatest things in my life", Elton hit out at Madonna, telling revellers: "Madonna, the miserable cow, wouldn't do it.

"David asked her three times". Kylie Minogue, who is battling breast cancer, sent a video message to the couple during the cabaret at Soho's Too2Much Club.

Wearing a head scarf to hide her cancer-treatment hair loss, Kylie, 37, danced to her track Love at First Sight and held up cards to say: 'Congratulations on your special day'.

Little Britain stars David Walliams and Matt Lucas - dressed as characters Lou and Andy - had Elton, 58, and David, 42, in stitches with a video message.

Former US president Bill Clinton also sent best wishes.

But Madonna, a longterm pal of Elton's who famously fell out with him last year after he accused her of lip-synching at gigs, would not go along to perform.

Elton, who wore a vivid blue suit, and David, a sparkly black jacket and jeans, set the tone for the Big Spender-themed night, called Gang Bang, on the official invites.

Lily Savage star Paul O'Grady compered in a tuxedo. He told the crowd Elton and David had "lived in sin for long enough".

He added: "Before we cover the happy couple in shaving foam, tie them to a lamppost with L-plates on their backs and firecrackers up their a***es we've got a bit of a show for you."

One guest said: "The first act to go on was Bryan Adams, who sang Hey Big Spender.

"He changed the lyrics to something very rude and it left everyone in hysterics."

Bill Clinton's pre-recorded speech was next, and the former US President thanked Elton for "all the work you've done around the world for Aids".

His said in a video message: "Elton and David I want to wish you well. I wish everyone knew you as I do and I hope you'll be happy today and forever".

The source continued: "The second item in the video montage was a Little Britain sketch. It was short but brilliant. Lou wished Elt and Dave all the best for their big day but Andy said: "I don't like it. I prefer Richard Stilgoe."

The source added: "Then Ben Stiller's message was played. It started off tamely and then got suggestive - he said to Elton: "I love you and I know this is the stag night but you can still call it all off in time". The crowd roared."

Sir Ian McKellen did a sketch as Widow Twankey and former Blue hunk Lee Ryan sang I Will Survive dressed in full drag. Will and Grace star Eric McCormack, The Pet Shop Boys and Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears also performed.

They were followed by comedy duo Kiki and Herb, before Take That star Gary Barlow and Lulu sang Relight My Fire together.

The source says: "Lulu looked sensational in a black feathered headdress. When she joined Gary on stage the room went crazy".

Other guests included the Osbournes, Trinny and Susannah, Kid Rock, Orlando Bloom, Liz Hurley, Graham Norton, Cilla Black and MTV star Donna Air.

The Laurent-Perrier champagne, vodka and cocktails flowed, while the guests fed on gourmet canapes.

The room was decorated with long-stem red roses and foot-high stags made out of from twigs.

The bash was planned by shoe designer Patrick Cox, who wore a full wedding dress on the night, and artist Sam Taylor-Wood, who organised Kate Moss's notorious Beautiful and Damned birthday party last year.

Taylor-Wood performed with ballet star Ivan Putrov. The source said: "It was a really raucous party. Elton only drank alcohol-free beer but a lot of other people were worse for wear.

"Graham Norton could hardly stand up and Jake Shears got so drunk he stripped naked in the middle of the room. Sharon Osbourne thought it was one of the funniest things she'd seen".

Elton and David spent the night in a booth lined with pink feather boas. Before leaving the party, which raged until 3am yesterday, they took to the stage to say thanks to their guests.

Elton added "I'll never forget this for as long as I live".
