LUXOL PARADE GROUND, PEMBROKE
Review by Herman Grech (Times Of Malta):
The Kid Wanna Rock
It was about 10.30 p.m. on Thursday when a voice
was heard screeching to a crowd of some 20,000 at the Luxol Parade
grounds. Claire from Zebbug (right) was in ecstasy after she was
picked by roadies to sing Mel C's part in a duet with her hero Bryan
Adams. She admitted she could not sing and she was too excited to
remember the lyrics but Bryan Adams went along with her and blasted
through When You're Gone, possibly the crowning moment of an energy-packed
show. The backchat only went to reinforce the idea that the singer
feels perfectly at home on stage.

Contacted yesterday, as he was relaxing with the
promoters NnG, before catching a flight to Cyprus, Bryan Adams told
The Times: "It was a night to remember. It was wonderful to
have such a great turnout". Guitar in hand, Bryan Adams and
his band marched onto a small stage in the middle of the arena just
after 9 p.m. for a rendition of There Will Never Be Another Tonight.
From the outset, the fans were on cloud nine.

Much to the delight and surprise of those present,
he then coolly walked through the crowd singing The Best of Me before
climbing on to the main stage. Of course the biggest cheer of the
evening was reserved for his classic song Summer of '69 and the
mushy chart-topping single (Everything I Do) I Do It For You, which
sparked off a massive sing-along.

The crowd went berserk as Bryan Adams strummed the
first few chords of Summer Of '69, as a bright red background turned
the stage into a cauldron of energy. He is a master of taking interaction
with his fans to dizzying heights. The women in the crowd had a
ball especially during his second encore when he called for yet
more girls from the audience to shimmy with him on stage during
a rock 'n' roll set.

The evening drew to a close with an acoustic set,
climaxing with All For Love. Two hours and 15 minutes of hit songs
were evidently not enough as the crowd yelled out for more. Popular
singer Ivan Filletti admitted he was surprised with the gig: "It
was a blue-collared kind of gig. The energy and interaction was
fantastic and everyone felt part of the concert". Bay Radio
manager and DJ Terry Farrugia agreed, saying he had never seen an
artist put so much into a live performance. Mr Farrugia, who was
brought up in Canada, said: "He did a fantastic job at interacting
with the crowd, which clearly showed it was enjoying every moment".
Before the concert, Bryan Adams lived up to his
nice guy reputation by meeting with his extended Maltese family
before the concert. The Canadian rock star's grandmother was Maltese
and his grandfather was a British royal engineer who helped build
part of the Valletta port in the 1930s. Bryan Adams and his band
left Malta yesterday for Cyprus after a boat trip around the island.

Review by Dorian Cassar (di-ve news):
An estimated crowd of 18,000 fans and music-lovers packed the Luxol
Grounds, St Andrew's on Thursday evening for a spectacular performance
by Canadian rock star Bryan Adams. With a strong voice throughout
the performance, Adams hyped the audience with tracks such as Summer
of '69, Heaven, Straight from the Heart, Please Forgive Me and others.
The concert was organised by NnG Promotions and
was Adams' first visit to Malta. "My grandmother and my great
grandmother are from Malta therefore part of me is Maltese",
the rock star remarked to the cheerful audience towards the end
of the concert.
Bryan Adams' 2007 tour started in January 5 in the
United States and led him to Southern America and to Europe. He
started his European tour in Milan, Italy on March 23. After his
performance in Malta, the Canadian rocker will be performing in
Cyprus on June 29 and in Hungary on June 30. His tour will also
take him to Denmark, Sweden, Germany, England, and Scotland and
will end in Canada.
