08/05/09 - CAPITOL THEATRE, MADISON, WI

Review by Helen Barton:
The gig was brilliant. Bryan was in great form with lots of funny stories...a girl who told him she kissed him once and then didn't take her clothes off for a week...the strange interpretations made by journalists about the meaning of the album being called 11...and the 'big organ' that sat in the corner, which he eventually made Gary get up and play. After making lots of spooky noises with it, and Bryan pretending to be ghost on stage, they played an organ version of 'The right place', which got a standing ovation. Apart from that though, it wasn't the best audience I've ever been a part of...very quiet until the end! Highlights for me, were 'Seven Spanish Angels', 'Not Romeo, Not Juliet' (Gary did an absolute genius solo), 'Mysterious Ways' (the first time I've ever heard it live), and a few lines of 'Freebird', which really suits Bryan's voice.
